I'm going solo!

Summer 2016

I'm going solo in September!  Yes, I'm breaking radio silence and showing what I've been up to over the past couple of years.  And I've been doing a lot.   It'll be on show from September 13th to October 2nd at Straffan Antiques Art Gallery.  It's going to be a bit of an 'eclectic picnic' - with a mix of stuff from etchings to oils to watercolours etc.  I'll let you see some samples later.

For now though, just keep those dates in mind - September 13th to October 2nd.  I'll give more details later.

New Works - Autumn 2014

92/43/EEC? Oil on Panel.  I came across an empty turf shed earlier this year and wondered if the emptiness was anything to do with the EU Habitats Directive which has banned turf cutting in certain bogs in order to protect the natural environment etc. The Habitats Directive is 92/43/EEC.

The Blue Door - watercolour.  Occasionally, you see things that seem odd.  The blue door could simply be a recycled door or maybe it was intentionally painted in that colour because it was the only colour available.  Who knows? But it caught my eye.

This drypoint print of crab apples from our tree at Waddingtown, Co. Wexford, was tinted with some watercolour. The plate is about 180mm wide by 65mm high.
"The Arch"

This is a photo-etched print of an archway in Carcassonne, in Southern France.

"CVCD"

Using an old CD as a plate, this image sets out to suggest a 'record' of life - its mysteries and episodes.

The Early Bird

"The Early Bird"
Early one June morning I took a walk around the Vancouver beaches. The bird seemed totally unperturbed by the proximity of a bustling city - and wasn't spooked by humans.

The picture was done in oils with a painting knife and is 40cm x 50cm.
